"I named Brave and Curious for the little girl I used to be — the one who had a lot of feelings and nowhere safe to put them."

For most of my life, I was neither brave nor curious. I was a runner — literally and figuratively. I ran to clear my head, to keep the world at a manageable volume, to stay one step ahead of the feelings waiting for me if I slowed down.

Yoga changed that. Slowly, then all at once. Over years of practice — from Bikram studios in New York to a meditation-centered teacher training in Seoul — it gave me something I didn't expect: language for what I had been carrying since childhood. Feelings I never had words for. A fire in me that had nowhere healthy to go.

Through practice, therapy, and a lot of writing, I found the courage to look at old wounds. To feel them, name them, and stay with them — rather than run.

When my daughter was born, I knew I couldn't pass those patterns on. I wanted her — and every kid — to have what I didn't: the words, the awareness, and someone who makes it safe to feel things without shame.

Brave & Curious Yoga is the class I wish I could have taken as a little girl. It's named for her — and for every kid who is still in that place. Brave enough to feel it. Curious enough to explore it. Never alone in it.
